Access Full-Scale Support with Procurement Services

As Procurement Services continues to evolve, it’s important to understand how the department can best support projects while positioning JE Dunn and our clients for success.

One division of Procurement Services, the Critical Components group, works with project teams to identify, source, and track delivery of long-lead equipment and materials. This strategic approach increases operational efficiency, mitigates schedule and supply chain risks, and enhances business plans — positively impacting JE Dunn’s bottom line. Engaging the Critical Components team early in the planning phase ensures seamless and comprehensive support throughout the entire project lifecycle.

From project pursuit to estimating and early preconstruction efforts through issuance of purchase agreements, Critical Components offers many services, including:

  • Cost estimate and lead-time data for equipment.
  • Sourcing support and supplier onboarding.
  • Buyout of contractor-furnished equipment and tracking of owner-furnished equipment.
  • Negotiating and management of supplier contracts.

The Critical Components team formulates targeted execution plans by leveraging their growing network of strategic supplier partnerships — like Siemens, Trane, CAT, Kohler, and more — to provide even greater certainty of results to our clients.

On the Piedmont Augusta Central Utility Plant project, the direct purchase of $16 million in MEP equipment was critical to overall project execution. By developing and implementing a procurement plan, the Critical Components team significantly shortened the generator system lead time, delivering 20 weeks back to the project schedule while generating over $700,000 in fees for the service. Similarly, on Centurion projects, the group has tracked the procurement and movement of over $9 million of owner-furnished equipment this year, generating over $500,000 in fees to date.

Early collaboration between Operations and Procurement Services sets the stage to co-create more effective execution strategies with stronger outcomes. With input from all stakeholders, Critical Components develops sourcing plans that accelerate all parts of the procurement lifecycle. This proactive approach transforms the procurement process from a transactional function into a strategic lever for project success.
