Establishing Community and Support Through Employee Resource Groups

By: Zoraya Rowlands and Martell Dyles

In an industry dedicated to building spaces that bring people together, it’s important to remember that every structure relies on a solid foundation. At JE Dunn, our success is built on one strengthened by our people — their talent, dedication, and collaboration are the heart behind every project and every achievement.

On Juneteenth in Houston, BUiLD hosted a fantastic celebration for the office, featuring good food, powerful videos, and a chance for team members to share what the day means to them.

Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are one of the ways to strengthen that foundation. These employee-led, company-supported groups are built around shared identities and experiences creating spaces where employees can find support, build relationships, and gain a deeper sense of belonging. That sense of belonging fuels open communication, stronger collaboration, and higher engagement across our teams.

Supporting ERGs means nurturing the relationships and connections that help support, inspire, and connect our people. From learning sessions and site tours to volunteer events and networking opportunities, there are countless ways for you to become engaged and involved.

Our ERGs are open to everyone because we know we’re better together. So whether you join one or all, you’ll find opportunities to learn, support, and grow.

JE Dunn proudly supports four ERGs:

  • VALOR — for veterans and allies
  • Moment Connection — for women and allies
  • BUiLD — for Black employees and allies
  • SOMOS — for Hispanic and Latino employees and allies

These groups help foster a culture of inclusion and belonging and extend our impact beyond our offices and jobsites by partnering with local organizations and giving back to the communities where we live and work.

Members of VALOR in Omaha set out for the annual Tee it Up for the Troops golf tournament.

We’re excited to launch the new ERG Platform, a centralized hub for all things ERGs: event registration, updates, and employee highlights. It’s another way we’re building community from the inside out. This year also marks a new chapter for Moment Connection, with Bethany Ropa, our new CFO, stepping in as executive sponsor. Her leadership and commitment to advancing opportunities for women make her a natural fit to guide the group forward. Whether you’re looking to connect, learn, or support, our ERGs offer a meaningful way to make a difference. Ready to get involved? Explore our Employee Resource Groups on Connect and join today.
