BUiLD:
Our recent JE Dunn BUiLD Summit was a huge success, bringing together over 180 Black employees, allies, managers, and executives under one powerful theme: “Homecoming: A Return on Investment = Transformation.” Over two and a half incredible days, we witnessed strengthened connections, increased mutual understanding, and new opportunities opened for both our Black employees and allies. The atmosphere was full of the wonderful energy and strength that makes our JE Dunn community unique.
Throughout the summit, attendees had the opportunity to engage with some of Houston’s most influential clients and institutions, solidifying JE Dunn’s relationships and commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion. The collective support and dedication from everyone involved were inspiring, and everyone was truly all in. This experience was a true return on investment—not only for JE Dunn as a company, but for everyone who attended. Together, we are building something transformative, and we couldn’t be prouder to be part of this journey!
BUiLD leadership updates
We are thrilled to announce the new BUiLD leaders who will play an essential role in driving our mission forward. As part of a structured succession plan, leadership roles at both regional and national levels will now transition on a staggered basis, ensuring a smooth transfer.
Missed out on the BUiLD summit this year? If you haven’t heard, we will be back in 2025 with another unforgettable National Summit! To receive an invitation, simply participate within your local office, region, or nationally.
Moment Connection:
Moment Connection has had a busy, enriched, summer and fall. Each region has hosted various volunteering, learning and development, and social events. Two featured events:
West Region
Moment Connection hosted a power tool lesson at the Portland main office. Employees were able to build (cut, sand, and assemble) planter boxes, cutting boards, and cheese boards that they could take home afterward. They could also use other common construction tools like chalk boxes and laser levels. The event concluded with a happy hour at the office and was a huge success. Several interns noted in their final presentations that it was their favorite event of the summer. Special shout out to Maddie Hall and Albert Morin for facilitating the event and lending their personal tools and time!
Midwest Region
The Kansas City Moment Connection team hosted a Wine & Paint event at Headquarters. Eighty women joined the event, where they were guided through painting steps and technique in an attempt to recreate a fall scene. While some paintings were certainly better than others, fun was had by all. This was the KC office’s largest event to date.
SOMOS:
As a part of our celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, JE Dunn has donated to several nonprofits and organizations that lift up Hispanic populations within their communities. Each of our regions chose a cause to support. This was an impactful way of connecting with our communities.
East Region: HoPe
HoPe (Hispanic Organization Promoting Education) is a nonprofit organization building communities for Hispanic/Latino students to lead, serve, and thrive. HoPe is in 88 high schools across Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and North Carolina with an estimated reach of 4,000 students.
South Central Region: Wellness for Growth Foundation
Houston’s Wellness for Growth Foundation exists to empower underprivileged minority women through integral wellness education and training in skills for economic growth. The organization wants to equip Hispanic women to become catalysts for change in their communities.
Midwest Region: Barrientos Scholarship Foundation
Based in Omaha, Nebraska, BSF aims to reduce the financial burden for Latino students who have demonstrated strong academic aptitude, service to others, high character, and personal ambition. Since its founding in 2005, the foundation has awarded $335,000 to Latino high school and college students.
West Region: Latino Network
Latino Network was founded in 1996 by Portland, Oregon, community leaders who grew concerned about the lack of adequate resources to meet the needs of the growing Latino community. Since that time, they have evolved to become an organization that also encompasses transformational programs aimed at educating and empowering Multnomah County Latinos.
VALOR:
VALOR recently celebrated Veterans Day with JE Dunn, elevating the voices of veterans across JE Dunn and remember their sacrifices that they have made to serve our nation and our company.
This Veterans Day, our offices held various events to recognize our veterans and their contributions. We also featured a guest blog from our executive sponsor, John Jacobs, where he shared insights into his own background as a veteran and how it has shaped him in the workplace.
We’re focused on increasing awareness for our group and continuing to learn how we can best support our veterans and their families and allies.
