At JE Dunn, we believe in growing together as a team. It’s a guiding principle that has become even more meaningful as our company has continued to evolve and expand over the past several years.
We’ve experienced incredible growth across our business, welcoming new employees, entering new markets, and tackling exciting projects. While growth can often be measured in numbers, what matters most is how we grow together. Our success has always been built on the strength of our people and our commitment to supporting one another and working toward common goals.
That spirit is reflected throughout this edition of Elevations. You’ll read about an important healthcare project that demonstrates the power of collaboration, and the impact teams can have when they bring various perspectives and expertise together. You’ll also hear from summer interns across the country as they share their experiences, insights, and the ways they have grown alongside the people around them during their time at JE Dunn.
Growing together does not happen by accident. It requires strong relationships, a willingness to learn from one another, and an investment in the development of future leaders. Every day, I see our teams embracing those values and creating opportunities for others to succeed.
As our company moves forward, I am proud that we remain focused on what has always set JE Dunn apart: our people and the culture we build together.
“One thing I’ll take away from my team this summer is how willing everyone is to help each other out. People are always open to answering questions and taking the time to walk you through the right way to do something.”
“The importance of being a team player and staying flexible. I learned that success is achieved when the team supports one another and is willing to step in when help or advice is needed.”
“The relationships that I have built with them. Over the past two months, I have gotten to know this incredible team and have learned to lean on them when I need help. They have taught me to step outside of my comfort zone and take on new challenges and that has been incredibly rewarding.”
“How crucial clear communication is to a project’s success. My team consistently shared feedback, ideas, and constructive criticism, helping each other grow as professionals. This collaborative approach ultimately contributed to successful projects and happy clients.”
Since beginning my career, I have often found myself as the only woman in the room. It’s a feeling that women in many industries know all too well.
This feeling has shaped me as a leader and influenced many of the ways I’ve chosen to give back throughout my career. It’s also one of the reasons I’m so honored to serve as executive sponsor of Moment Connection. This year is especially exciting as we celebrate the group’s tenth anniversary.
Throughout my career, I have been drawn to initiatives that support and develop women in their personal and professional lives. One experience that was especially meaningful was helping to launch and then lead the Urban Land Institute’s Women’s Leadership Initiative in New York, where I had the opportunity to support women as they advanced in their careers and leadership journeys. Over the years, I’ve learned from women in the generation above me, who were very much the only women at their respective tables, that were so enthusiastic and eager to help and lead the next generation.
I used to ride a motorcycle. I had a Honda Shadow and would ride with my dad and brothers.
My mother. My mother started working at 7 years old as a domestic worker in the Dominican Republic and helped raiser her younger siblings. She and my father immigrated to the U.S., started their own business and raised a family of six kids with limited resources. She was an amazing woman that taught us to work hard and to be kind and generous to others, regardless of your circumstances.
We did not vacation a lot as kids. Now, as an adult, I drag my father with me to discover new places, especially on cruises. We have been to Alaska and all over the Caribbean. Panama Canal is the next bucket list trip.
I paint watercolor seascapes, love kayaking, and have started to learn how to grown my own vegetables.
I am known as the 5-foot terror or the 5-foot beam counter in precon. It’s actually part of my intro in most of our presentations.
